The Solo Developer

Websites

A real website.
Not a page builder.

Hours, phone, what you do and how to reach you, on a site that loads in under a second on a phone. Built by hand, nothing tracking your customers, and the domain in your name.

How it usually starts

Often I build the first version before we ever talk.

If someone sent you a link to a preview of a site for your business, that is what happened. I found what is already public about you, your address, your hours, what you do, and built a site around it. Nothing on it was guessed; anything I could not confirm was left out.

Look it over. If you want it, call and we go through the details. If you don't, nothing happens and the preview comes down. There is no charge for looking.

Packages

One-pager

$300

One page. For a business that needs to be findable and nothing more.

  • What you do, where you are, when you're open
  • Click-to-call phone and a map
  • Your hours and address in Google's search results
  • Your logo worked into the design
  • Your domain, set up in your name

Business

$500 to $800

Up to five pages. Most shops, restaurants and trades land here.

  • Everything in the one-pager
  • Services or menu, about, gallery, contact
  • A contact form that emails you
  • Your photos and your logo, or plain type if you have neither
  • Built on my website starter, so you can see the shape of it before we talk

Site plus tools

From $1,000

A Business site plus one thing that does work for you.

  • Online booking or a quote request that lands in your inbox
  • A menu or price list you update yourself
  • A form that replaces a paper one
  • Hooked up to Square, a payment system or something else you already use
  • Priced after a short conversation about what the tool has to do

Care plan

$50 to $100 a month

Optional. For owners who never want to think about the site again.

  • Hosting and the domain renewal
  • Changes to hours, prices and copy when you send them
  • Security updates and a monthly check that everything still works
  • Cancel any time; the site stays yours

Any of these can connect to just about any system you already run: Square or another payment processor, a booking service, an inventory system, a scheduling app. That is extra, because it depends on what the site has to talk to, and you get the number before I start.

Every site gets

  • Loads in under a second on a phone, on a bad connection. No page builder, no plugins, no bloat.
  • No cookie banner, because nothing on the site tracks anyone.
  • Your hours, phone and address marked up so search engines show them.
  • Your logo, whatever form you have it in, worked into the design. No logo yet? Plain type looks good, and one can be added later.
  • The domain registered in your name and the files handed over. If you leave, you take it with you.
  • Thirty days of changes after go-live, included.

How it works

  1. A preview, or a call.

Either you've already seen a preview, or we talk for twenty minutes about what the site has to do. I tell you which package fits and what it costs. That price is the price.

  2. Half up front.

I build it, you look at it on a private link, we fix what needs fixing.

  3. Go live, other half.

The site goes on your domain. You get the logins, the files and a one-page note on how to change the easy things yourself.

  4. Care plan, if you want it.

Or not. The site works either way.
